Pretty Mommy Tips...
Well, I know I haven't written in a while, Summer gets the best of me sometimes and I simply feel like if I sit down for more than five minutes my children's heads will start spinning and all hell will break loose. SERIOUSLY. Summer is all about your kids...especially when you're a stay at home mommy. AND, not to mention my boys NEED to be active, or they tend to get at each others throats...I'd prefer to keep my kids alive...so I will keep them busy as much as possible.
On that note, I know that I am a mom, and yes, I sometimes dress like a mom (for instance, I have been wearing the same pair of leggings for a couple of days...oops...) BUT, that doesn't mean I don't think about fashion on those days I am less than desirable.
Even when I am washing my hands every 5 minutes because of poopy diaper changes, and sticky messes, and covered in crumbs and sweat (because it's darn hot...and those kids are crumbly messes ALL the time.)
I still want to feel pretty. I DO. I really like feeling pretty.
I think every women who is a mommy still wants to feel pretty. ..AND they NEED to feel pretty.
When you're devoted to giving all you have to your kids you tend to put yourself on the back burner. Here are some things I do to feel pretty...
Every day I at least try and put on a bit of makeup. It could just be a splash of bronzer or some bright lipstick. Something that makes me feel womanly really helps. It's not just the act of taking that time to admire yourself in the mirror as you brush on that bronzer, but it keeps you in touch with taking even 5 minutes for yourself. It's worth it.
ACCESSORIES! Accessorizing, even a plain tank top and a pair of holey jeans (which seems like a staple in my life) helps encourage my lovely side to come out. It could be an over the top bow or a pretty pair of earrings that make me feel glamorous. Accessories instantly dress up your look and gives you a fun girl touch.
Nail polish instantly makes me feel Glamorous. It seriously does. I am drawn toward the quick dry nail polishes. They dry quickly and last. I usually use Rimmel quick dry nail polish. It's cheap , has pretty colors and dries quickly! Even if I am doing the 10 ft pile of dishes if my fingers are painted I just feel like a goddess.
When I am having a bad hair day it really does make me feel icky. To get out of that rut I usually do something to make it look at least decent. I invested in some dry shampoo recently to see what it had to offer. I seriously would suggest to anyone. It gives your hair great texture and it's quick and easy to change your look a bit. When I know I won't have time to even shower I use the dry shampoo to add some texture and make myself feel beautiful. Throwing a braid in, which changes the style up just a bit encourage my girl to come out.
By even taking 5 minutes of your time each day to focus on you and how you view yourself encourages you to love yourself AS well as be a better mommy for her children. TRY it!!

ReplyDeletewow, i know this post is an oldie, but it's a goodie! i think moms of boys especially need to primp a bit more each day. i need to feel set apart from them and bright lipstick does an excellent job at that!
ReplyDeletealso, i think our blogs are sisters(zig zagged yellow & gray anyone?).
